Avian Geometry

This portfolio features aerial images of white pelicans that migrate to the rivers and lakes of my home state of Minnesota each summer. Using a polarizing filter and dark exposures to suppress the water’s surface, their surroundings are transformed into an abstract void. The pelicans become ethereal forms, seemingly suspended weightless in the inky blackness of space.

A photograph should say as much about the
artist
as it does about the subject.
