For those of you on our Bosque del Apache photo workshop, we're offering this limited extension opportunity to shoot with us at the nearby White Sands National Park.
Workshop location: The workshop is based in Alamogordo, New Mexico.
Physical requirements: Although the dunes of White Sands aren't particularly tall or steep, walking through sand can be difficult for those with limited mobility.
General schedule: Here’s the plan, subject to change:
December 9
We head out to the dunes in the afternoon for a sunset shoot.
December 10
We leave early every morning for sunrise photography, followed by a midday break. We'll meet for classroom sessions in the middle of the day, and head out in the afternoon for sunset photography.
December 11
We do a short, optional sunrise shoot, giving people plenty of time to return to their hotel for checkout.
Lodging: Lodging is not included in the workshop price. The Quality Inn Hotel and Suites will be our base of operations (575-434-4200). They wouldn't give us a block of rooms or a group rate, so there's no need to reference the workshop when you make a booking.
Transportation: The nearest airport is El Paso (ELP). It’s about 1.5 hours from Alamogordo. Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) is about 3 hours away.
Gear
In addition to your gear for Bosque, we recommend also bringing a wide-angle zoom for photography in White Sands.
Payment policy: The workshop fee is for instruction only. All other expenses, including transportation, accommodations, National Park entrance fees, and meals are the responsibility of the participant. The workshop fee will be collected no later than 60 days prior to the workshop start.
If you cancel within 60 days before the start date, a partial or full refund of the workshop tuition might be available as long as we are able to find a replacement. We try to be flexible about emergency cancellations; just contact us and we’ll do our best to work it out!
