Looking to take your creative expression to the next level?  Creative Vision Photo Workshops are designed to challenge you to reach new heights with your nature photography. Join Creative Vision instructors Ian Plant and Richard Bernabe on an intensive, multi-day field and classroom instructional workshop that will help you create photographs you've always dreamed of making.

Acadia National Park contains some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the eastern United States. With towering seaside cliffs, pounding waves, scenic lighthouses, granite-topped mountains, and tranquil ponds, Acadia is the perfect setting to capture the wonderful fall color of New England. This five day workshop will explore the very best Acadia has to offer.

During this workshop, Ian and Richard will teach a variety of techniques that will allow you to advance both your technical skills and artistic vision. We focus on a number of professional field techniques to help you create dramatic and powerful nature images, including working with dramatic light, including sunrise and sunset; the fundamentals of powerful compositions; and abstract techniques for creating artistic photographs. In addition, we'll explore a number of artistic philosophies that will help you find your own personal vision. 

Getting There

Bangor International Airport (http://www.flybangor.com/) is the closest airport to Bar Harbor, and is just over an hour away by car. Driving conditions will consist of mainly paved roads. When possible we prefer that participants car pool with each other to help limit our impact and to get to know each other. A standard rental car will be sufficient. 

Fitness Level

There is some hiking on this workshop. Although many workshop destinations are near the road, some short, relatively easy hiking may be required. Trails are less than one mile one way and do not involve serious elevation gains. Even short hikes to coastal locations can involve slippery, uneven terrain, so hiking boots are recommended. You don't have to be in tip-top shape, but your enjoyment will be enhanced by good health and preparation. A standard liability release form will be required before departure.

Transportation to and from Bar Harbor, Maine; lodging accommodations and meals; and transportation to and from shooting locations.

Recommended Equipment

• Warm sweater or fleece and windproof shell; hat and gloves

• Hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes

• Rain gear including rain pants

• Sunscreen

• Water bottle

• Camera body

• Lenses ranging from 12-200mm (for cropped sensor camera); 17-200mm (full frame sensor cameras)

• Longer lenses may be useful for photographing wildlife and isolated scenics

• Spare digital memory cards

• Electronic cable release

• Tripod

• Flashlight

• Battery chargers and spare batteries

• Polarizing filter; graduated neutral density filters (2 or 3 stop); neutral density filters

• Laptop computer with Adobe Photoshop

Deposit Required

A $300.00 deposit will be required with the balance to be redeemed no later than 60 days before the event.
