TANDING SILENT IN STILL WATERS, A GREAT BLUE HERON WAITS FOR A FISH TO RISE. Twilight's glow stains the tidal pool with rosy hues; I use a flash to light the heron, freezing a reflection of the rippled water on the bird's feathers. February 2006, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Maryland.
