Barn swallow, Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

I took this photo of a barn swallow during a trip to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I found this dead branch that was a favorite perch for the swallow, and then patiently waited for it to land. Snowy Owls

I just returned from four days of photographing snowy owls (Bubo scandiacus) in Ontario and Quebec provinces, Canada. I went with Alex Mody, a young up-and-coming photographer who has a real passion for bird photography, and who is very adept at finding these solitary birds.
