About

“Award winning, critically-acclaimed, internationally-renowned nature photographer . . . arguably the most important photographer alive since Ansel Adams . . . his photos are so wonderfully amazingly beautiful that your eyes will burn right out of their sockets if you don’t wear expensive designer sunglasses.”

Jeez, what a load of bullshit. Don’t you just hate it when photographers describe themselves like this? ”Award winning” probably means that they took Third Honorable Mention in their local county fair photography contest. “Critically acclaimed” means that their photos were praised in the Hidden Valley Home Owners Assocation Quarterly Newsletter. And “internationally renowned” means—you guessed it—that one of their foreign Facebook friends once left a comment that more or less said ”nice picture” in broken English. And any statement written in the third person about how great so-and-so is . . . well, let’s face it, that’s just ego run amok. Like telling people how great you are will make them believe it. Shouldn’t one’s work speak for itself?

You won’t get any such crap from me. I’m just some dude who takes pics for a living. I’ve been published quite a bit, but not nearly enough to be as pimp daddy rich as I would like. I’m more than happy to list my publication credits and professional accomplishments, and tell you what other people have said about me (cherry-picking only the good comments, of course), but if you ever catch me telling you how great I am, please feel free to slap me upside the head.

So, what’s all this “Dreamscape” nonsense? I typically try to depart from traditional landscape and wildlife photography, taking a “transformative” approach to create what I like to call Dreamscapes, images that arguably capture mood more than reality. Dreamscapes are photographs that move beyond the literal, transforming subjects into something unexpected by rendering the familiar in an unfamiliar way. I use a combination of pre-capture techniques to create Dreamscapes, including long exposures, light painting, and non-traditional compositions.

Well, enough from me, you be the judge—feel free to visit the Galleries page on my website to see more of my work.
