12 For ’12


After a little prompting from Ian, I’ve put together a group of my best work from 2012. Most was from Arizona, as for the most part I stayed close to home. Picking 12 wasn’t easy, none the less the difficult choices were made and here they are. So thanks for taking a look at my somewhat belated posting, and have a great New year

  • Nice stuff. I think After Vespers gets my vote for best of the bunch.

  • Extraordinary images, mostly taken in my favourite place on Earth, unfortunately so far from my southern Canadian home … my favourites are Bearing Witness, Lollipops and Candycanes, and Cerebral Cortex, with the latter talking first place. Aside from some of Fatali’s images, these are the only photographs I would consider buying … thanks for letting me see them in this context.

  • The light in After Vespers is off the hook.

    I will share my best of 2012 images with all of you as soon as I finish backing them up by manually writing the 1s and 0s on my breakfast napkin. Stay tuned – this activity is taking longer than I thought.

    • Yardstick thanks for the props…I gotta say I couldn’t remember the sequence of 1′s and 0,s for one picture, must less 12; I’m really impressed….

  • Wow George, what a stunning collection of images, hard pressed to pick a favorite, they’re all so damn good. I see you’ve been getting in touch with your feminine side (only 2 verticals), guess it’s all that time hanging out with Ian ;)

    • It only seems to you that you are getting more feminine hanging out with me because I am so uber manly – next to my super awesome macho studliness, it is easy to feel girly by comparison. Don’t sweat it bro – it happens to most people within a 5 mile radius of my radioactive manfulness.

  • My personal favorite is Two Jack Sunrise. I like the motion in the sky and the light on the peaks. You did a great job at taming the dynamic range of the scene.

  • These are gorgeous George! All are wonderful but my faves are Lollipops & Candycanes and The Cebrebral Cortex.

  • George, these are all beautiful landscape photographs. it looks like 2012 was very good to you. If I had to pick a favorite, I’d go with Cerebral Cortex. It has a mesmerizing range of color and texture. Brilliant photographs. Keep up the great work.

    I love the subject matter that you choose and the way you compose your shots, but what I love most about your photographic style is the way you capture light; it’s drop dead gorgeous! I wish to emulate and capture moments of time one day as you do.
