New Photoshop Tutorial Videos

I’m pleased to announce the release of my Creative Digital Processing Series Two instructional videos. Series Two expands on the core learnings of Series One, teaching basic and advanced techniques for digital image processing. Series Two contains six new instructional videos that will help you explore your creative potential:

  • Cloning, Patching, and Fills
  • Removing Lens Flare
  • Wildlife Photography Techniques
  • Selective Color Adjustments
  • Removing Digital Noise
  • Creative Blurring

You may buy the tutorials separately (each for $2.99), or as a bundle for $17. I’ve included a purchase button below for those interested in buying the bundle.

I’ve also produced a new free video tutorial called Optimizing Photos for Web Presentation. You may download this from my Creative Vision eStore at no charge!

I’m starting work on Series Three, which will go beyond the “how” and into the “why.” I’ll take you through my creative processing work flow for a number of my favorite photographs, starting with raw conversion and going all the way to the finished image. During the process, I’ll explain the reasons why I make each creative processing decision. Each video in Series Three will not only teach you important techniques, but will stimulate your artistic process as well.

  • Hello,
i haven’t the first series, if i want to buy 1 e 2 series there is a discount or is only for the single series ($17+17)?
    Thank you

    • Hi Antonio, I do not currently have a bundle price for both series 1 and series 2. Sorry! Both of the separate bundles for Series 1 and Series 2 offer a discounted price over buying each video separately.

  • I just downloaded the free ones to check them out but confused a bit about your optimizing for web presentation video.

Why bother changing the ppi from 300 to 72 when it has no affect on the final image or how it can be used. The only value that matters is the total 750px so regardless if you try and print those 750 pixels at 72dpi or at 300dpi, the results on screen will be exactly the same.

    • Hi Stephen, you are absolutely correct. For years web experts were saying that 72dpi was the optimal resolution for posting on the web. So I’ve been setting my dpi to 72 for years without even thinking twice about it. Funny how that can happen sometimes. But you are correct that it doesn’t really matter. I’ll have to amend the video when I get back from my current trip to photograph fall color in Maine. The method I describe in the video doesn’t do anything wrong, it just adds an unecessary step. Thanks!

      • That’s cool. I was not criticizing but because so many people still suggest it, I was simply wondering if I was missing something.

At one time, all monitors were actually 72 ppi.

        • That must be where it came from. I asked some of my photo buddies and they all do the same thing too – set their dpi to 72. We’ve all been doing it for years without thinking about it!

  • Thank you for these videos. Its very helpful.

  • Just ordered your series 1 & 2 videos, I want to thank you for the the fair price you have placed on them, I know I am going to take away (learn) some very helpful tips from you..thanks again Ian.

  • These videos are awesome. I would love to see one about sharpening. Maybe in series 3??? You thoughts and ideas are always appreciated.
